Skills, training and career highlights
After graduating from Cardiff University in 2006, I worked for three years in a large NHS teaching hospital completing core rotations in a variety of Physiotherapy fields including trauma and orthopaedics, respiratory care, neurosurgery, neurological rehabilitation and musculoskeletal outpatients.
My Physiotherapy focus was honed by my love of tennis which began at the age of five, and so it was natural for me to develop my interest in musculoskeletal injuries and sports rehabilitation. I also travelled to Sydney to work in private practice, developing my skills in biomechanics, movement dysfunction and lumbo-pelvic stability, focusing on Pilates as a key element of rehabilitation.
After spending a short period in the French Alps skiing and treating skiers and snowboarders I returned London where I worked within a hospital and clinic setting. Continuing my passion for Pilates I joined the APPI Health group and taught everything from one-to-one classes to sports specific group sessions.
I’m Bupa approved and spent three years working as part of Bupa Clinic in close alliance with Sports Medicine Physicians, GPs and Podiatrists. I’ve also set up numerous Pilates classes for a range of different levels.
I focus on rehabilitative and graded strength training and call on my manual skills and acupuncture therapy to assist with pain relief.
When not at work I’ll be running or riding my bike with various cycle and running clubs. I challenge myself with European cyclosportives and compete in various running and triathlon races, having raced several marathons, including the London Marathon twice, although my preferred distances are the Half Marathon and Half Ironman Triathlons. I’ve recently qualified for Great Britain Age Group within the Middle Distance Triathlon taking place in June 2017.
