Mortons neuroma describes a compression injury to a nerve between the metatarsals (long bones that form base of toes-common between the 3rd and 4th metatarsal); it mainly affects middle aged women (Jain and Mannan, 2013).
This injury occurs because of aberrant foot biomechanics and alternatively tight shoes can be a factor.
Currently non operative treatment includes foot-wear modification, orthotics, sclerosing agents and steroids (Jain and Mannan, 2013). Operative management mainly opts for nerve decompression or neurectomy.
