Quite commonly midtarsal joint sprains are misdiagnosed as ankle sprain (Won et al., 2016).
The midtarsal joints are situated in the middle foot region.
Injury occurs when the middle portion of the foot is stretched beyond its normal range of motion this can happen with quite dynamic activities involving jumping or increased load i.e gymnastics or running.
Rest and treating biomechanical anomalies and checking that footwear is appropriate are important aspects of injury management.
