The 5th Metatarsal is the little toe of the foot and is commonly fractured.
Injury often occurs during an ankle roll where the foot is in a pointed position and the foot is rolled over
Treatment generally requires a plaster to immobilise the fracture and with more severe injuries surgical intervention to fixate the fracture. Usually fifth metatarsal fractures have good outcomes with conservative treatments measures (Brogan et al., 2017).
