Skills, training and career highlights
I have been working as a Physiotherapist since 2005, beginning in the NHS specialising in neurological rehabilitation and critical care. I moved to a London based practice, where I joined an educational scheme focusing on musculoskeletal physiotherapy before travelling to Australia to join the Mosman Sports Injury Clinic and complete my Rehabilitation Pilates Series with Polestar – renowned for their forward thinking approach to physiotherapy – which encouraged me to refine my clinical reasoning and treatment skills.
I returned to the UK in 2010 and took up a Physio post at the Broadgate Spine and Joint Clinic where I became the head Physiotherapist. It’s always been my dream to set up my own practice so in 2013 I began Movement Perfected.
Cycling is now my main sport and I am a member of both Brixton CC and Dulwich Paragons CC. I cycle regularly in Kent and Surrey and as often as I can, I head for the hills! In the last couple of years I have cycled Lands End to John O’Groats and taken part in several major European cyclosportives, including the Marmotte and the Maratona. This year I plan to cycle in Tenerife, Italy, France, Switzerland and Majorca. I also enjoy snowboarding and skiing – the combination of fresh air and speed is a winner.
I believe in getting strong for sports rather than the other way round and keep myself in shape with regular doses of practising what I preach. I use modified Pilates to keep me supple and strong allied to plyometrics to keep me bouncy and fast.
